Ons herinner graag ons ouers en ondersteu-ners aan die Interskole wat op 21 Augustus by ons skool plaasvind. Die gees is besig om tot ‘n hoogtepunt op te bou en afrigters is besig om hul spanne in wenmasjiene te transformeer! STERKTE aan al ons leerders wat hulle vir die Interskole voorberei. Die Interskole is ‘n groot dag en baie leerders en besoekers word vanaf Caledon verwag.

INTERSCHOOLS
We would like to remind our parents and sup-porters about our Interschools taking place on 21 August at our sports grounds. The ex-citement is building up to a crescendo, and coaches are fine-tuning their teams into lean, mean, fighting machines! GOOD LUCK to all the learners as they prepare for Interschools. Interschools is a big event and we are expec-ting many learners and visitors from Caledon.

Alle gr.9’s en hul ouers moet asseblief die vakkeuse-aand op Woensdag 4 Augustus om 18h30 in die skoolsaal bywoon. Leerders moet in hul skooldrag geklee wees. ‘n Omsendbrief is aan die gr. 9-ouers gestuur.

All gr.9s and their parents must please attend the subject choice evening in the school hall on Wednesday 4 August at 18h30. Learners must be dressed in their school uniforms. A circular will be sent to all gr. 9 parents.

REKENAAROLIMPIADE
|
|
Aan die einde van verlede kwartaal het 24 leerders aan die tweede deel van die Rekenaarolimpiade deelgeneem. Hulle was onder 3502 deelnemers van oor die land. Hulle het 2 uur tyd om die programme te voltooi. Vier leerders het daarin geslaag om 3 probleme op te los. Hierdie prestasie van ons leerders het ons skool onder die top 80 (uit 199 deelnemende skole) skole in die land geplaas. Die uitslae is na ‘n paneel wat die programme volgens die kortste en mees effektiefste oplossing evalueer, gestuur. Die wenners in dié skool was:

Ons doen ‘n dringende versoek op alle ouers wat hulle kinders per motor by die skool op- en aflaai om asb. die nuwe parkeerarea voor die ingangshek te gebruik. Dit is ‘n veiliger plek en sal verkeersknope voor die skool aan die begin en einde van ‘n skooldag verhoed.
Die rooi strepe langs die straat dui ‘n GEEN STILHOU SONE aan. Moet asb. nie daar stilhou nie!! Ons waardeer u samewerking.

We urgently appeal to all parents who bring their children to school by car, to make use of the new tarred drop-off area in front of the school. This is a much safer area and will cause less congestion in front of the school at the start and end of the school day!
The red lines on the side of the road indicate a NO STOPPING ZONE!!! Do not stop there!

ENGLISH OLYMPIAD
|
|
Two of our learners fared very well in this year’s English Olympiad. Jason Scott (grade 12) achieved a Silver Award. Danica Kreusch (grade 11) achieved a Gold Award. Danica was placed in the top 50 winners. This is an outstanding achievement as thousands of learners from across the country take part in this Olympiad. As a result, Danica has won a scholarship to Rhodes University in Grahamstown. Congratulations on these excellent achievements.

Drie graad 9-leerders, Christiaan Kriegler, Jamie Gerber en Pieter Burger, gaan saam met die NG Kerk van De Doorns op 'n uitreik na Malawi.
Tine Boot, 'n onderwyseres in Fisiese Weten-skappe, gaan ook in die Julievakansie na Londen as lid van die uitreikaksie van Campus Crusade for Christ.

Three of our grade 9 learners, Christiaan Kriegler, Jamie Gerber and Pieter Burger will accompany the NG Church outreach to Malawi during the school holidays.
Tine Boot, one of our teachers, will be travelling to London as a member of the Campus Crusade for Christ outreach team, during the July school holidays.

Dogtershokkie het Saterdag oor Bredasdorp gestoomroller. Die Eerstespan het baie goeie hokkie gespeel en met 2-0 gewen. Die Pienk Ladies het hul naam met welslae verdedig met die grootste doelverskil van die dag. Die uitslae is as volg:

1. REKENAAROLIMPIADE / COMPUTER OLYMPIADE
Die rekenaarolimpiade bestaan uit twee rondtes. Gedurende die eerste rondte word 'n teore-tiese toets geskryf en alle leerders van Graad 9 tot Graad 12 kan deelneem. Ons het hierdie jaar 78 leerders gehad wat aan die olimpiade deelgeneem het.
Die beste presteeders in elke Graad was:

Hierdie leerders het elkeen 'n sertifikaat van die Suid-Afrikaanse Rekenaarolimpiade ontvang. Baie geluk aan hulle.
Tydens die tweede rondte moet die leerders 5 programmeringsprobleme met behulp van die rekenaar binne 2 uur oplos. Nege Graad 11- en 12-leerders het aan die olimpiade deelgeneem. Die uitslae was as volg:

Baie geluk ook aan hierdie leerders, ons is trots op hulle.
2. BALLET
Ashley Scott (grade 9) is a member of the Cape Junior Ballet Company and this year they are touring to Grahamstown in the July holidays to perform in the annual Grahamstown Festival. Earlier this year Ashley attended the Sea Point Eisteddfod and went through to the finals for all her solos, one group item and a duet. She has also been invited to perform in a production of Swan Lake with the Cape Town City Ballet Company.
3. DANCE
Chenique Steyn (grade 8) took part in the South African Dance Championships for Ballroom and Latin American in Johannesburg. She obtained 8 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Chenique and her partner also scored the highest percentage (88%) in the Exhibition dance.

Kom vier Hoërskool Hermanus se Ma-en-dogteroggend op Saterdag 29 Augustus 2009 om 10:00 – 12:00. Koste beloop R75 per persoon. Die oggend behels pret, plesier en 'n "performance!"
Die gasspreker is die nuutverkose voorsitter van die Beheerliggaam, mev Andrienette Fourie en die "performance" word deur Marika en Yolandi gelewer met Frieda op klavier. Die kabaret spreek tot alle vroue wat 'n "goeie kennis" van dieet het!
Moeders wat graag as 'n gasvrou vir 'n tafel van 10 wil optree, kan gerus die skool kontak.

A.g.v. die nuwe Graad 8- en 9-slaagvereistes, wat u alreeds ontvang het, is dit baie moeiliker om aan die einde van die jaar te slaag.
Die nuwe slaagvereistes is reeds hierdie kwartaal toegepas; gevolglik is die persenta-sie leerders wat hierdie eksamen druip aan-sienlik hoër. Neem asb. kennis: hul moet o.a. 50% vir 'n Huistaal en 40% in Wiskunde hê om te slaag.
Ons versoek u om u kinders te motiveer en toe te sien dat hulle gereeld hulle huiswerk doen en baie goed vir toetse en die eksamen voorberei. U kind behoort ten minste 3 uur per dag te werk. |
Due to the new pass requirements for Grade 8 and 9, it is extremely difficult to pass at the end of the year.
The new pass requirements have already been applied this term and therefore the number of failures has increased drastically. Please note: 50% is required to pass a Home Language and 40% to pass Mathematics.
We urge you to keep your child(ren) motivated and ensure that they do their homework regularly and study much harder for tests and examinations. Your child should work at least three hours per day to ensure a positive outcome. |

Baie dankie vir die oorweldigende reaksie wat ons van u ontvang het om 'n bydrae tot ons sopkombuis, hetsy met die maak van sop of donasies van brood en nie-bederfbare produkte, te maak.
Ons bedien elke Maandag, Dinsdag en Donderdag 4 liter sop tydens eerste pouse. Baie dankie aan die Graad 10F dogters wat dit bedien. Hierdie diens sal volgende kwartaal voortgaan. Gevriesde sop en blikkieskos kan enige dag by die kantoor afgegee word.
Onthou asb. om die brood op die gegewe datum te voorsien.

We would like to express our gratitude for the overwhelming response to our request for donations of tinned and dried food, as well as soup and bread for the soup kitchen. We serve about 4 litres of soup every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during 1st break. Thank you to the Grade 10F girls who do the serving. This service will continue next term.
Frozen soup and tinned food can be dropped off at the office on any day. Please remember to supply bread according to the date you were given. |
